PORTAGE PARK — A lady was fatally stabbed and an off-duty police detective was shot whereas making an attempt to intervene within the assault Tuesday in Portage Park, in response to authorities.
Round 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, an off-duty Chicago police detective noticed a girl being stabbed within the 5600 block of West Leland Avenue, police stated.
The girl, who had been stabbed a number of instances, was taken to Resurrection Hospital, the place she was pronounced lifeless, Chicago Hearth Division spokesperson Larry Langford stated.
The detective tried to intervene and fired photographs on the lady’s attacker, police stated. The off-duty officer was grazed by a bullet to his leg whereas making an attempt to intervene. He was taken to Lutheran Normal Hospital with non-life threatening accidents, Langford and stated.
Police are presently trying to find the lady’s attacker, who fled the scene, police stated.
The girl who was killed had acquired an order of safety towards her attacker, who pleaded not responsible at his association Monday, in response to the Solar-Instances.
The Civilian Workplace of Police Accountability was responding to the scene for an investigation.
Dariusz Potoczny lives across the nook from the place the taking pictures occurred. He stated his neighbor instructed him he heard a gunshot, so Potoczny went outdoors. He noticed a person he acknowledges from the neighborhood and is aware of is a police officer being taken on a stretcher to an ambulance, Potoczny stated.
By 3:37 p.m., extra then a dozen neighbors had gathered to look at the scene, with the road blocked off as police investigated.
“It’s getting scary, town,” Potoczny stated.
