Former MLB slugger Mark Teixeira to run for Congress in Texas

Mark Teixeira, whose 14-year MLB profession started with the Texas Rangers, introduced Thursday he’s operating for Congress within the 2026 midterm elections.

Teixeira will run as a Republican within the twenty first Congressional District, which covers components of the San Antonio and Austin suburbs and far of the Hill Nation and cities like Fredericksburg and Kerrville.

“As a proud Texan and lifelong conservative who loves our nation, I am able to battle for the ideas that make Texas robust and America distinctive,” Teixeira stated in a press release.

Teixeira made his Main League debut with the Texas Rangers within the 2003 season. In his 4 full seasons in Arlington, Teixeira made one All-Star Sport and earned two Gold Glove awards for his defensive prowess at first base. He was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2007, the place he performed components of two seasons. 

After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Angels, Teixeira signed with the New York Yankees in 2009. He performed the ultimate 8 years of his profession in The Bronx, which included a World Sequence title, two extra All-Star video games and three extra Gold Glove awards.
