WRIGLEYVILLE — Probably the most iconic buildings in Wrigleyville is being torn down simply weeks earlier than Opening Day.
Demolition is underway at 3631 N. Sheffield Ave., considered one of three historic Wrigley Area rooftop buildings slated to be torn down and changed with a 29-unit residence constructing.
A contractor on the web site mentioned the demolition, which started earlier this month, is anticipated to take as much as one other week to finish.
Demolition permits have solely been issued for 3631 N. Sheffield Ave., whereas the opposite two buildings at 3627 and 3633 N. Sheffield Ave. stay intact for now.
Longtime Chicago Cubs followers will acknowledge the trio of properties at 3627, 3631 and 3633 N. Sheffield Ave. as having housed the well-known Torco billboard on its roof and in addition to the property that grew to become well-known for its “Eamus Catuli” signal — loosely translated from Latin as “Let’s go Cubs.”

The vote cleared the best way for the demolition of 3627, 3631, and 3633 N. Sheffield Ave. and the development of a five-story, 29-unit residence constructing.
The possession group, led by Marc Anguiano, plans to incorporate 11 parking areas behind the constructing and pickleball courts as a part of the redevelopment.
The demolition comes simply weeks earlier than the Chicago Cubs’ residence opener on April 5, once they host the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Area.
