Chicago crime: Man battered whereas attempting to forestall theft at Goal in Loop, giant police presence seen at State, Madison streets


CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police mentioned a person who was attempting to forestall a theft was battered by a suspect on Saturday on the Goal within the Loop.

An enormous police presence was seen at about 8:15 p.m. close to Madison and State Streets.

One witness instructed ABC7 it concerned a safety guard who was injured throughout a combat with a suspect.

Chicago police confirmed a 38-year-old man was battered when he tried to forestall a theft by a 22-year-old male suspect.

The scenario appeared to unfold contained in the Goal retailer on State and Madison streets on the primary ground close to the escalators, witnesses instructed ABC7.

The 38-year-old had a laceration to the again of the neck and was taken to Northwestern in good situation.

One witness visiting from Houston described what he noticed: “The man was simply performing loopy. They have been combating. At first, they have been combating, and so they acquired down with it. They have been tussling. The safety guard took him,” the witness mentioned. “Staff, they have been doing their jobs. They separated us. Chicago police mentioned the suspect was not injured and was positioned into custody.
